Cleo W. Norman

Cleo W. Norman, age 64, of the Hardin Valley Community passed away Friday, September 30, 2016. Cleo served our country in the office of the Inspector General in the U.S. Army. He began employment in 1973 with the Tennessee Valley Authority and eventually became General Manager of CAO Business Services. During his employment at TVA, he earned his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Tennessee. After retirement, he served on the Board of Directors, as well as the Supervisory Committee for the TVA Credit Union.

Cleo loved his church and the great outdoors. He was a life-long member of Marietta Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he had served as an elder and as church treasurer and he dearly loved his church and church family.

An avid sportsman, Cleo also cherished the time he spent at his Virginia cabin. He made friends easily and always had a smile on his face and a cheerful greeting for everyone he met!

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Esco and Prudie Norman;

Sister, Brenda Graves;  Father and Mother-in-law, Clifford and Juanita Lowe;

Brother-in-law, Bill Cagle.

 

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Judy L. Norman;

Gracie, his beloved “kritter cat” (as Cleo called her);

Sisters, Marie Cagle, Janice Norman, Jane (Ken) Lowe;

Brother, Edward “Eddie” Norman;

Brothers-in-law, George (Virgie) Lowe, Doug (Joy) Lowe, Ron Graves;

Nieces and Nephews, Lisa, Dewayne (Joyce), Jason (Meg), Jamie (Zeb), Jeremy (Jessica), Andy (Jody), David (Sarah), Amber, and Maurie;

Great-nieces and Great-nephews, Sarah, Drew, Lexie, Will, Henry, Jericho, Gabby, Carter Mac, Lilly Claire, Kensley, Jonah, and Shawna;

Cleo also leaves many lifelong friends including his army “buddies”, hunting and fishing pals, and many, many other family members, neighbors and friends.

 

The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, October 4, 2016 from 4-7:00 pm at Marietta Cumberland Presbyterian Church,   1922  Marietta Church Rd in Knoxville.

The funeral service will begin at 7 pm with Rev. Don Hubbard officiating.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday morning in the church cemetery beginning at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Gideons, PO Box 140800, Nashville, TN  37214-0800 or to the Cumberland Presbyterian Children’s Home, Drawer G., Denton, TX 76202.
