Francis Olen Gaddis

Francis Olen Gaddis, known to family and friends as “Gaddis” passed away at NHC of Oak Ridge on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at the age of 97.He was a resident of Oliver Springs before entering the nursing home. Gaddis was born September 29, 1919 in Copper Hill, TN. He moved to this area in the early 1940’s to work on the Manhattan Project and was an employee of Y-12 for over 30 years working as a machinist.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmet Gaddis and Dora Bell Gaddis; one son, Ernest Gaddis.

 

He is survived by his wife, Christine Carroll Gaddis, also a resident of NHC;

Children, Charles Gaddis and wife Joan of Oliver Springs, Sue McCormick and Bernice Beckius and husband Nick, both of Hopkinsville, KY;

Stepchildren, Peggy Wilson and husband Ralph of Petros, Beverly Barboza and husband Gene of Powell, Shirley Pierce and husband Darryl of Panama City, FLA and Reba Brummett and husband Eugene of Oliver Springs;

And a host of grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends;

The family would like to thank the staff of NHC for their care and kindness offered to Gaddis and to the family during his stay at the facility.

 

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 from 5-6:00 pm at Kellytown Baptist Church in Oliver Springs. The funeral service will begin at 6 pm with Rev. Ralph Wilson officiating. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday morning, 11:00 am in Anderson Memorial Gardens, Clinton.
