Martha “Marty” K. Wood passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at her home in Rockwood, TN. She was surrounded by her fiancé, her dog and a few close friends.

Marty was a district manager for McDonald’s for many years before retiring. She loved the Washington Redskins and cooking. She grew up with four sisters and one brother. She was born in California and moved all over the US before settling down in TN.

Marty was a spunky child who became a rebellious teen. She loved to make people laugh with her outlandish sense of humor. Anyone who knew her has a story to tell.

She was unable to have biological children, but that didn’t stop her from becoming a mother. Marty and her, then-husband, chose to adopt two children. Wendy, who was thought to be autistic and Stacy, whose medical problems ranged from blindness to kidney failure.

Marty wanted to adopt the children she felt were in most need of a loving home.

Marty is survived by her daughter, Stacy; her grandson, Tyler;

Her sisters, Betty, Donna and Lisa;

Brother, Pat;   fiancé, Jimmy and her dog, Fred;

Many nieces and nephews and good friends.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Wendy; sister, Linda; mother, Virginia and father, Hugh.

Marty’s wishes were to be cremated and in lieu of a funeral service for everyone to tell at least one funny story to remember her by! She wanted no tears, just laughter in her remembrance.
