Georgia "Betty" Lee VanNorstran

Georgia Lee (Betty) VanNorstran went home to be with her savior, Jesus Christ, on July 4th, 2019. In life, she was a beautiful, honest and loving woman who touched the lives of many people with her laughter and spirit. She enjoyed talking about God’s love, and frequently discussed what joy heaven would bring and what it would be like. Betty enjoyed telling people of her many blessings and how proud she was of her family. With her passing, she is overjoyed to be reunited with her late husband, Bob, as well as all the loved ones that have preceded her in death.

One of Betty’s passions was worshipping the Lord through song and prayer each week at a local nursing home and attending church services regularly. In her spare time, Betty could often be found petting her cat, Patches, or planting flowers and watching the birds and squirrels play in her yard.

Betty was a sweet and gentle soul who always welcomed others with a smile on her face and a cup of coffee in her hand. She was an active member of The Oliver Springs Church of God of Prophecy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Eva (Jones) Ruffner;

Husband, Bobby Ray VanNorstran.

She is survived by her children, Margie Norris and husband Wendal, Robert VanNorstran and wife Penny, and Nathan VanNorstran and fiancé Jennifer;

Six Grandchildren, Adrianne Serpersu and husband Kaan, Amber Lee and husband Chucky,

Joe Norris and wife Kate, Ashlan Stockton and husband Tyler, Nathaniel VanNorstran and fiancé Jennifer and Matthew VanNorstran;

Five Great-grandchildren, Kali, Tyson, Grayson, Ayla, and Luke;

Sisters, Azalee Hensley and husband Dana and Katherine Shepherd;

Brothers, Bill Ruffner and wife Becky and Elmer Ruffner and wife Dorene;

And a host of nieces, nephews and other family members and good friends and neighbors.

Family and friends will meet at Nelson Cemetery on Catoosa in Wartburg, TN on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at 11:00 am for a Graveside Service with Bro. Roy Massengale officiating.  Following the service, everyone is invited to gather at Betty’s home for a time of celebration.
