Jimmie Neal Seals, 88 of Oak Ridge, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2019 at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Jim or “Poppy” as he was affectionately called by his grandchildren, his great grandchildren and his great-great grandchildren was loved by everyone who knew him.
Jim loved his family and enjoyed being surrounded by them. He and his childhood sweetheart “Rose” were married for sixty-four years, until she passed away 5 years ago. Jim spent 43 years “on the road” as a long distance and local driver for Barger Transfer and Wheaton Van Lines. After retiring from the road, he enjoyed being at home with his family. He was also Poppy to several children that were cared for by “Nanny Rose” for many years.
His children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren were very much a part of his life. His family consisted of his sons and their wives, Billy and Diane Seals, Bobby and Teresa Seals and Mark and DeeDee Seals. His grandchildren and spouses include, Mandy and Keith Thrift, Josh Seals, Deena Seals, Melissa and Adam Bishop and Beth Shanks and was welcomed to Heaven by his granddaughter Sara. He was blessed with 8 great grandchildren, Malaiah, Daniel, Ace, Leeland, Abby, Carter, Caitlyn and Andrew and two great-great grandchildren, A’Riyah and Jayse.
He was the 2nd of 11 children and was preceded in death by parents, Mack and Helen Nelson Seals and siblings, Gene, Mary, Maxie and Russell
He is survived by sisters, Lavada Allen and Shirley Moore and brothers, Glen, Wayne, Hence and Jerry Seals.
Jim enjoyed many activities which included bowling, golf and spending time with his family and friends. He was a veteran of the Korean War.
There will be a Celebration of Life gathering on Friday, March 8, 2019 at The Ridge Community Church, 157 LaSalle Rd, Oak Ridge at 7:00PM. Receiving of friends will be 5:00 to 7:00pm
