Lafayette Elijah “Fate” Pate, age 86 of Oak Ridge, passed away at Life Care of Morgan County on Wednesday, November 28, 2018. He was lovingly known as Pop by many of his family members. He was born in Ducktown, Tennessee in 1932. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. Fate married Ellen Emogene Kirk during his time in the military. He began his career at the Y-12 National Security complex where he retired after 38 years. He loved fishing and spending time with his family. He is preceded in death by his son, David Lee Pate, wife, Ellen Emogene Kirk Pate, his parents, and several siblings.
Fate is survived by his daughter, Elaina Pate of Lancing, son, Bill Pate (Kim) of Florida, their son, Elijah, daughter in-law, Karen Pate of Knoxville and her son, Christopher, very special friend of 20 years, Jean Melton and several great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 3, 2018 at 2:00PM at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
