Margaret Ferrell Obituary

Margaret Young Ferrell, age 86, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Patriot Hills Assisted Living, in Oak Ridge, TN.  Margaret was a native of Johnson City, TN and lived there most of her life. She was a devoted Christian and a member of Unaka Avenue Baptist Church. Margaret and her late husband served many churches throughout the southeast and were very active in their roles in church leadership.  Margaret was actively involved with the Johnson City Senior Citizens Center where she enjoyed various forms of dancing, including western square dancing, round dancing, and ballroom dancing.  Margaret was full of life, vivacious, and loved people.  She enjoyed traveling the world and experiencing new cultures.  Margaret devoted her life to her husband and their ministry, their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. 

Margaret is preceded in death by her husband, Reverend John Ferrell, parents; Robert C. and Beatrice Young, brothers, Kenneth Young and Robert O. Young, and son-in-law, Donald Reid.

Margaret is survived by her two loving children, daughter ,Linda Reid of Knoxville, TN and son, Larry Ferrell (Kitty) of Jackson, TN; grandchildren, John Reid (Elesha), Brooke Graves (Ben), Lindsey Hedlund (Aaron), Ryan Ferrell (Katie), Cory Ferrell (Brittany); great grandchildren, Grant Reid, John-Gryffen Graves, Jarred Graves, Natasha Moser (Matt), Flarity Hedlund, Finley Hedlund, Abigayle Ferrell, Charlotte Ferrell, and Wesley Ferrell; sisters, Marie Geisler and Sheila Whaley; brother, James Young; sister-in-law, Billie Young; lifelong friends, John and Georgia Tipton; and several other special loved ones. 

The family would like to express their thanks and sincere gratitude to Tommy Spencer and the staff at Patriot Hills Assisted Living for the loving and professional care given to our Mom during the last months of her life.  We would also like to thank Amedisys Hospice of Sweetwater, TN for their compassion and support.  God blessed us with special people during the final stages of Mom’s life and we are eternally grateful.

 

 A Celebration of Life service is being planned for a later date.
