Stella Florine “Flo” Ward Jackson age 94 of Oak Ridge, (formerly of Coalfield) passed away, Monday, July 1, 2019 at Brookdale Assisted Living in Oak Ridge.
She was born October 25, 1924 in Clinton, Tennessee to Charles Ward, Sr. and Ethel Maples Ward. She was named after her mother’s sisters, Stella and Flora. She had 3 brothers and one sister, Charles Ward Jr., Kenneth Ward, Eugene Ward and Shirley Ward Foster. Flo went to grammar school and high school at Coalfield in Morgan County, Tennessee. She was Valedictorian of 1941 graduating high school class. She met her husband, Frank Jackson at Middle Creek Baptist Church in Oliver Springs. They were married on February 14, 1943 while Frank was home on furlough from the army. Frank and his brothers owned Jackson Brothers Mining Company in Oliver Springs. Flo worked as an accountant for TVA.
Flo is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Jackson, parents, Charles Sr. and Ethel Ward and two of her brothers, Charles Jr. and Kenneth Ward.
She is survived by four children, Virginia Evans and (late husband Waldo), Ronnie Jackson and wife Diane, Diana Morgan and husband Jim and Teddy Jackson and wife Vicki,
7 grandchildren, Kim Estes, Jeff Evans, Melinda Evans, Timothy Morgan, Allyson Benda, Stephanie Seibert and Joseph Jackson,
13 great-grandchildren, Brandon, Caleigh, Jordan, Jackson, Jacquelyn, Cody, Rose, Gabe, Violet, Ashley, Cydney, Hannah and Kenzie.
The family will receive friends Friday, July 5, 2019 from 10:30 to 12:00 noon at Calvary Baptist Church, Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Funeral services will follow at 12:00pm with Bro. Ronald Guthrie and Bro. Wayne Morgan officiating. Interment will be at 2:30 at Anderson Memorial Gardens, Clinton, TN.
