Samuel F. Lawhon went home to be with Jesus Sunday, February 4, 2018. He fought a long battle with cancer for 4 years. He was of the Baptist Faith. He was 75 years old. Sam was employed by Knoxville News Sentinel for 49 years.
He was a quiet man. A very smart man. When he spoke, we all listened. A kind and gentle man and very giving.
His hobby was old cars. The older the better He loved his family. Loved his adopted family. He mentored a lot of people.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Geneva Lawhon, brother Kim Spangler, sister Donna Overton, brothers and sisters-in-law, Stanley and Anna Day and Kenneth and Jane Lowe. His children he cared for: Laura, Rikki, Kimberly, and Joey. His grandchildren: Kaitlynn, Aiden, and Ethan. Great- grandchildren: Kylie and Jackson.
