Stewart A. Slone

Stewart A. Slone age 75 of Coalfield,  passed away peacefully at Methodist Medical Center, Oak Ridge, January 11, 2018. He served as pastor of the Petros Church of God of Prophecy for the past 26 years. He also was a well-known business man and had owned several businesses in the area including the Coalfield Carpet and Burger along with his wife, Judy for many years. He served as Morgan County Commissioner for 18 years. Stewart was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Clifton and Mattie Watts Slone, brother, Willis Slone and grandson, Jacob Slone.

 

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Judy Massengill Slone;

Sons, Randy Slone and Ricky Slone and wife Carla both of Coalfield;

Grandsons, Nicholas A. Slone, Michael A. Slone and Timothy W. Slone;

Sister, Nancy Fay Slone and husband Clark;

Brothers, Dorphan, Hillis, Wilson Harlan, Ed, Doug, Elva and Ivis Slone;

And a host of nieces, nephews and other family members and friends

 

The family will receive friends Monday, January 15, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Big Mountain Baptist Church in Oliver Springs. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 12:00 noon at Petros Church of God of Prophecy with Chaplain Dean Yancy officiating.  Interment will follow in the Petros Cemetery.
