BEVERLY JOAN (THOMAS) BOST

Beverly Joan Thomas Bost, age 79, of Oak Ridge, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, July 14, 2018 surrounded by her family.  She was the daughter of Harley V. Thomas and Mary Ellen Freeman Thomas.  She faithfully attended Kern Memorial Methodist Church while her health permitted.

Mrs. Bost was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Dr. William E. Bost.  She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, David Thomas, sister, Eva Thomas Ziehlke, sister-in-law, Katherine Wilder Thomas, niece, Catherine Ziehlke Gengozian, nephew, Gregory Ziehlke.

Mrs. Bost was born in Wolfcreek, KY and moved to Oak Ridge as a child.  She worked for a time as compositor for the Atomic Energy commission where she met her husband.  They were married in 1958 and had two children, Douglas and Robin.  In 1966, the family moved to Memphis where she worked as a secretary for Huddleston, Ballew Management Consultants while her husband completed medical school.  In 1970. The family returned to Oak Ridge and Mrs. Bost began work as a teacher’s assistant at Cedar Hill and Willowbrook schools. She enjoyed working with children and worked for 32 years with the school system.

Mrs. Bost enjoyed gardening, sewing and genealogy as well as reading widely on many subjects.  She was much loved by her friends and family and will be missed by all who knew her. 

Her survivors include son, Douglas Bost (Haide), daughter, Robin Bost Parkison (Jeff).  Grandchildren, Holly Parkison Justice (Brandon), April Parkison, Nathan Parkison, Khaylie Bost, nieces, nephews and many special friends.

A celebration of her life will be held at Kern United Methodist Church, Oak Ridge, TN on July 21, 2018 from 5:00 to 6:00pm with a Memorial Service to follow at 6:00pm with Bro. Don Morris officiating.
