Mr. Charles Franklin McGhee , age 88 of Petros passed away at his home on Monday, August 19, 2024. He served our country in the U.S. Army then retired as an Iron Worker in Dayton, OH. Later he retired from the State of Tennessee working in maintenance at Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary.
He was a good electrician and was always volunteering to help others at no charge.
He enjoyed making wine and giving it as gifts to family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Mary (Scarbrough) McGhee; two sons, Bo McGhee and Robert McGhee;
Brothers, Jimmy Lee McGhee and Billy Joe Townsend.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Billie Ruth McGhee of Petros;
Grandson, Aaron McGhee; Great-grandchildren, Tanner and Daisy McGhee;
Brother, Ronnie Taylor and wife, Vickie;
Billie would like to thank special former daughter-in-law, Connie McGhee and special niece, Samantha Townsend for offering such loving care to Charles and the family;
And a host of other family members, good neighbors and friends.
A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024 in the Old Petros Cemetery with Pastor Keith Kilby officiating.
Family and friends will meet at the cemetery at 12:45 for a 1:00pm service.
