Clara Elizabeth Jones Obituary

Clara Elizabeth Jones “Liz” was born March 29, 1938, in Clinton, TN. After working at Magnet Mills Liz traveled to Mich and worked at the Ford Motor Co. for several years. Liz returned to Tennessee and became interested in her family's genealogy and started her research in the early 70’s. Liz was diligent in her desire to write a history for her family. She did not have the benefit of computers and most of her research was writing letters to the Library of Congress in D.C. Liz was diligent in her pursuit and even wrote letters to various countries requesting information, she completed her quest and had the Jones-Long history printed and presented to family members for them to enjoy. Liz wanted to be a teacher and although she did not become one formally, she was a teacher of history to our family.

She is preceded in death by her parents Charlie and Etta Jones; brothers Marshall, Ralph, Clyde, John, Roy and Charles Jones Jr; sisters Mary Gerline (Berry), Stella Faye and Helen Sue.

Liz is survived by sister-in-law Jean, 14 nieces and 19 nephews. Although she never had children of her own, she loved every one of her kids.

Her journey is complete and she is with Jesus.

Life is but a stopping place, a pause in what's to be. A resting place along the road to sweet eternity, and when the journey finally ends, we will claim a great reward and find an everlasting peace together with the Lord. Amen.

Graveside service will be at R.W. Long Cemetery on Monday February 16, 2026, at 11:00 A.M.
