Clarence Raymond Robbins

August 18, 1927 - April 6, 2021

 

Clarence Raymond Robbins, also known as “Pa” to many, age 93, of Oliver Springs, TN went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, with his beloved wife of 73 years, Hilda Robbins, by his side.

 

Clarence is a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, where he proudly served his country from 1945 to 1947 in the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions as a Paratrooper. He earned a World War II Victory Medal. One of the highlights of his career is that he worked at Lockheed Corporation in Cape Canaveral, Florida where he was in charge of the security of the space craft that would take Neil Armstrong to and from the moon on the Apollo 11 Mission in 1969. Clarence, a man of integrity, served in law enforcement for many years. He served as the Chief Deputy Sheriff in both Anderson County and Roane County. He also served as the Lead Homicide Detective/Criminal Investigator for the 9th Judicial District Attorney General’s Office where he retired in 1993. He also served as the Roane County Coroner for many years after retirement.

 

Clarence is a member of Middle Creek Baptist Church. He is a 32ndº Master Mason and member of Scottish Rite. Clarence was proud of his career, but he was most proud of his family. He married the love of his life, Hilda, on June 12, 1948. The thing he enjoyed most in life was spending time with his family. He also enjoyed gardening, fishing, carpentry, riding his ATV/golf cart, playing cards, and sitting on the front porch with his love.

 

Clarence is preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Robbins, daughter Karen Robbins, siblings, Joe (Verda) Robbins, Thelma Davis, JC (Helen) Robbins, Hubert Robbins; brothers in law and sisters in law Mitchell (Marjorie) Chadwick, Charlie (Nancy) Chadwick, Eloise (Ray) Patterson and Henry Wilson.

 

Those left to cherish his memory and continue his legacy include his wife Hilda Robbins; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Cynthia Robbins; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Ralph Sheffield; grandchildren, Mark (Channon) Robbins and their children Blake and Casey; Shannon (Renee) Robbins and their son Riley; Wesley (Emily) Jones and their children Averie and Lily; Megan (Chad) Broscious and their children Emberly, Channing and Adelyn; Andrew (Katie) Sheffield and their children Molly and Charlotte; Nicole Sheffield and her son Tyler; brother, Bob (Faye) Robbins; sisters-in-law, Nellie Wilson and Margaret Robbins; brother in law Wallace (Linda) Chadwick and many special nieces, nephews, other special relatives, neighbors and friends.

 

The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 10, 2021 from 1pm until 3pm at Beech Park Baptist Church, 1085 East Tri-County Blvd, Oliver Springs. The funeral service will follow at 3pm with his grandson, Chad Broscious and his nephew, Jason Robbins officiating. Live stream will be available on the Beech Park Baptist Church YouTube channel. Interment will follow in Frost Bottom Cemetery in Oliver Springs with Military Honors.
