Clark S. Mercer Obituary

Mr. Clark S. Mercer, 75 of the Marlow Community passed away Monday June 16, 2025. He was a graduate of Clinton High School; Clark then went into the United States Army from ‘70- ‘72 in Germany. He was a Specialist E4. He was a longtime member of Poplar Creek Baptist Church but also attended Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church with his wife. He worked at The City of Oak Ridge Schools for 34 years.


Clark’s hobbies were lawn-mowing and landscaping.


He was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Linda Mercer.


Parents, Eula and Clark Mercer; Sister, Kathleen Troop; Brother, Winford Singleton; Aunt Otella and Uncle Archie Freeman.


He is survived by a daughter, Maria Mercer.


Son, Johnny Mercer.


Stepdaughter, Andrea Gouge and husband, Michael.


Brother, Bryan and wife, Glenda.


Sisters, Francis Freeman and Laura Moore.


Grandchildren, Mercede Mercer, Amber Moore, Brianna Wilson, Macy Duggin, Jonathan Gouge and Aden Bullock.


Great-grandchildren, Lulu and Jaqualin Eavey, Callie, Caitlynn and Caiman Moore, Lucas and Wesley Wilson, Timber and Ava Duggin.


Close family, Jessie Singleton, David Jones, Jesi and Drew Homan, Victor and Travis McKamey.


Close friends, Virgil Phillips, Carol Yoakley, Don and Phyllis Hillis, Jean Griffin, Dave and Sandy Christian, Benita and Mark Albert.


And many other friends and family members.


The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 18th from 6-8 p.m. followed by funeral service with Pastor Garvan Walls officiating.


The family will meet at Anderson Memorial Gardens on Thursday, June 19th for an 11 a.m. graveside service.
