DAVID HARPER Obituary

David Brian Harper, Age 56 of Oliver Springs, TN went home to be with the Lord surrounded by his loving wife and children on Thursday, November 26, 2020.

David was born October 1, 1964 in Oak Ridge, TN. He spent his early childhood years as a resident of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where he developed a love for his favorite pro sports team the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was 1982 graduate of Oliver Springs High School. He served 34 years as a correctional officer at both Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary and Morgan County Correctional Complex.

David met the love of his life, Lisa Craze Harper, at Oliver Springs High School in 1978. They would later marry in 1984. David and Lisa spent 42 wonderful years together and raised both their daughter, Jessica Harper Hicks, and son, Tyler David Harper, in their hometown. He was the best Husband and Father and his wife and children were the light of his life.

David was a Bobcat for Life. He was an All-State Quarterback for Oliver Springs during his playing days. Later in life, David spent many days on the sidelines of D.J. Brittan Field coaching his sons youth club teams and eventually being an Assistant Coach for the High School Football Team.

David was an avid weight lifter from his early adult days. The Lifters Club in Oak Ridge, TN was were it all began. He always enjoyed the brotherhood that went a long with weight lifting and the many different people he has met through it.

David was a member at Beech Park Baptist Church. He served on the missions team and security team. He loved his church family and Pastor Robbie Leach. His faith was unwavering.

David is preceded in death by his father, Jesse Raymond Harper; mother, Mabel Brown England, and Sister, Margaret Neal.

David is survived by Wife, Lisa Craze Harper; Daughter, Jessica Harper Hicks (Austin); Son, Tyler David Harper (Brooke); Brothers: Raymond Harper (Susan), William Harper (Debbie), and Tony Harper (Gayle); Sisters: Lena Langston (Elmer), Frances Buck (Shirl), and Pat Crowe (Cecil). He is also survived by a large family and many friends.

The family will hold services Sunday, November 29 at Beech Park Baptist Church. Receiving of friends will take place from 2-5 with the funeral following at 5:00.

 Due to COVID-19, everyone is encouraged to wear a mask and abide by social distancing guidelines.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask for donations to be made to the Oliver Springs High School Football Team, Oliver Springs High School Cheerleading Team, or Oliver Springs Middle School Football Team.
