EARLA MEYER Obituary

Earla Ann Meyer, 71, of Sevierville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 26, 2020, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Rochelle, Illinois on December 20, 1948 to Ceceila Horton-Westbrook and Luman Earl Horton.  She was a talented artist and dedicated mother. She was incredibly creative and enjoyed painting, cake decorating, calligraphy, interior design, and crafts. She was inspired by nature and all God’s creatures and was able to use her talents to bring happiness to so many people. Earla Ann had a huge heart and opened it and her home to countless foster children in both New York and Illinois.

She moved to the Great Smoky Mountains when she retired in 1995, to fulfill her dreams as an artist. She worked at DollyWood and The Christmas place as a personalizer and artist. She spent hours painting the mountains and the angels she saw in the smoky mist all around her beloved home, where she loved to spend time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father, sister and grandson.

Surviving family members that will continue to cherish her memory include: her husband Jeff his 6 children, her brothers David and Gerald, her 5 children Todd (Christle) Madding, Dennis (Julie) Smith, Amber (Dan) Drerup, Megan (James) Hiatt and Chelsea (Brandon) Novaro, 16 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and one on the way.

There will be no immediate service, but a Catholic memorial will be held this summer, as per Earla Ann’s wishes.

In lieu of flowers, Earla Ann’s wishes were that people would sow seeds of kindness. A kind act would honor her memory beautifully.
