Gladys J. Holloway, age 97, passed away February 5th at Courtyards Senior Living in Oak Ridge. She is survived by daughter, Joyce Cardwell (Lynn), son, Gary Brannon (Joanne), brother, Jim Johnson (Dodie), sister-in-law, Catherine Brannon, daughter-in-law, Sue Ward, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Holloway was predeceased by son, Neal Brannon, granddaughter, Gayle, parents, McKinley Johnson and Esther Jackson Johnson, husbands, Stanley Brannon and John Holloway, and siblings.
She was born fourth of nine children in 1922. She wanted to be a nurse, would have been a wonderful teacher, and was a fabulous mother instead. She married a Marine during the war years, and “held it all together” the years he was overseas (now called deployed) for his 22-year career. Gentle and nurturing yet strong, she loved sewing, crafts, antique dolls, animals and babies of any kind.
Many thanks to Courtyards for their very special care of her. A service will be conducted in the Spring at the family cemetery in West Virginia.
