Grey lived his life to make others happy and strived to make everyone he met smile. Grey had a knack for knowledge and loved learning something new every day. He was the oldest of four children, born to Olive and Hank Fugate in 1947. His life took him in many directions over the years, but no matter where he laid his head, he always made his friends and family feel loved.

Grey loved UT football and bled orange for the Vols. He had a passion for old cars and hot rods and had many of his own through the years. Grey made friends wherever he went and always had a good story to share.

Grey served in the United States Air Force and was given an accommodation for starting a youth football league in Texas. His philosophy in life was to know no boundaries and learn something new every day. Grey was an EMT, mechanic, carpenter, electrician, as well as working in the Mental Health field for more than 30 years. He was fluent in at least 5 languages and dabbled in others, he was a history buff, and he loved Star Trek.

Grey loved his family above all else and sacrificed daily to ensure their happiness. His kindness was felt by everyone around him, due to his incredible ability to make others smile and laugh.

Grey was preceded in death by his parents Olive and Hank Fugate, brother Robin Fugate, sisters Kim Sanders and Beth Dewar. Wife, Billie Jo Fugate in 1999, and special love, Kate Engle in 2025.

Grey is survived by his children Thomas Lawson, Robbie Fugate, Tabby Fugate, Leta Hall, his niece Becky Sanders Laman, second daughter Kristie Cofer and the Engle family in Indiana. Grey leaves behind a host of family and friends that he cherished with all his heart.
