Jackie A. Jackson Obituary
Jackie Allen Jackson, 88, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 7th, 2025 at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee, after an extended illness. Born on March 1, 1937 in Coalfield, Tennessee, he lived a long and meaningful life rooted in faith, family, and hard work.
Jackie was the son of Welch and Irene Jackson. He was preceded in death by both his parents, his sister Naomi Daugherty, and brothers Don Jackson and Jerry Jackson. He also mourned the loss of two of his children during his lifetime — his daughter, Connie Sue Patterson, and son, Gregory David Jackson.
A dedicated professional, Jackie worked for RUST in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, beginning in 1971. Over the course of more than two decades with the company, he built a respected career before retiring in 1995. His work ethic and commitment left a lasting impression on those who knew him professionally.
Jackie found joy and purpose in his role as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Sherrell Jackson (née Davis), with whom he shared 72 years of marriage. Together they raised a loving family that includes their son Terry ‘Bear’ Jackson and his wife Stacey of Coalfield, Tennessee; daughter Jana Boseley and her husband Jim of Harriman, Tennessee; and son Tim Jackson and his wife Teresa of Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
He was a grandfather to six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. His extended family also includes numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who held him dear.
Outside of work and family life, Jackie enjoyed spending time outdoors. Hunting, fishing, and gardening were among his favorite pastimes — activities that reflected his appreciation for nature’s quiet rewards. These hobbies brought him peace and fulfillment throughout the seasons of his life. A man of deep faith, Jackie was a member of New Life Baptist Church. His spiritual foundation guided him through life’s joys and challenges alike.
A memorial service to honor Jackie’s life will be held on Thursday, April 10th, 2025, at New Life Baptist Church, located at 510 Devonia Street in Harriman, Tennessee. A Graveside Service will be held at Estes Cemetery on Friday, April 11th, 2025, at 11:00am. The cemetery is located at Jimmy Willie Bales Lane, Oliver Springs, Tennessee.
Jackie will be remembered for the strength of his character, the depth of his devotion to family, and the quiet grace with which he lived each day. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
