James Edgar Womack, age 76 of Oliver Springs passed away at his home on Sunday, November 20, 2022. James served our country in the U.S. Air Force then, for the next 8 years worked as a firefighter for the Oak Ridge Fire Department.  His career continued as a firefighter at the Y-12 Plant and retired as a maintenance supervisor.  He enjoyed shooting pool with his buddies at the Oak Ridge Senior Center and playing poker with his buddies in Clinton. James was of the Baptist Faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Viola Womack.

Survivors include his wife of 55 ½ years, Gladys McPeters Womack of Oliver Springs;

Two sons, James Drake Womack of Knoxville and Robert Blake (Amanda) Womack of Clinton;

Sister, Joan (Jack) Pruitt of Georgia;

Brother, Thomas (Brenda) Womack of Oak Ridge;

Grandchildren, Natalie Ingle of Oak Ridge and Scarlett and Harrison Womack and their mother, Polly of Knoxville;

Special thanks to the Clinch River Nurses, Lindsey Montierth and Misty Moore;

And many nieces, nephews and other family members and good friends.

James chose cremation with no services to be held.
