Jimmie Roy Neal Obituary

Jimmie R. Neal, age 77 of Oliver Springs, passed Saturday, March 29, 2025, peacefully at home surrounded by his family.


He was born to the late Jack and Reba Neal on January 12, 1948, in Oliver Springs, TN., and attended and graduated from Coalfield.


He was employed at ORNL before he retired and then worked at Roane State Community College of Oak Ridge before retiring.


He enjoyed hunting, fishing and most of all time spent with family and fur babies.


He was preceded in death by parents, Jack and Reba Neal;  mother-in-law, Ruth Ledbetter and sister-in-law Shirley Russell-McKissick.


He is survived by his wife of 56 years Linda Neal and daughter Heather Ashley; brother-in-law James Ledbetter (Debbie); niece Jennifer Russell; nephews Jimmy Ledbetter (Katie), Billy Ledbetter (Kathryn); and three great nephews and a great niece. He is also survived by special friends, David Hannah, James (Buddy) Martin and daughter KK, Helen, Kim, and Jason Ashley along with numerous other family and friends.


Linda and Heather would like to thank Quality Private Duty Care for their outstanding service and compassion for Jimmie during his illness. Special thank you to his nurses Roberta Byrd, Bradley Ralston, Abigail Cox, Jake Richards, and homemakers Melissa Hickcox, Durita Honeycutt and Kaleb Lankford. We also want to thank Amedisys for their compassion and care.


Cremation was chosen and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
