Leewanda Ward Obituary

Leewanda Adcock Ward of Rockwood, TN and formerly of Coalfield, TN was born December 22nd, 1934. She parted this life on May 2nd, 2026, at the age of 91 for her Heavenly Home. Leewanda accepted the Lord on October 17th, 1947, in a revival with Rev. Luke Wilson. She enjoyed going to church and singing in the choir. She also enjoyed helping others in a variety of ways which included cooking for those who were in need. Her health had declined in later years, and she grieved that she wasn’t able to attend church. She watched local services on tv and had a music room where she enjoyed listening to those good ole’ Southern gospel hymns.  She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Ward, mother Gladys Adcock, an infant son, brothers Douglas and Ralph Adcock, sister Loretta Woods Cooper, and granddaughter Nicole Jackson Mayo.
She leaves a daughter, Glenna McGhee Aytes (Gary) of Rockwood, son Rickey McGhee, Knoxville and a wonderful stepdaughter, Kathy Ward Jackson (Faron) of Coalfield. They graced her with seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren, Danielle Coker (Lee) with Annabel and Avery, Chase Brown (Destiney) with Bo and Addie, Mark Treece, Trecci Roberts (Stephen) with Emerson and Archie, Mandy Bentz (Trevor) with Jack, Natalie Faulk (Chris) with Issac, Emma and Wyatt, and Nicole’s son, Nathan Mayo, two nieces, Deborah Woods Craven (Effie and Jacob) and Hope Adcock Poland (Abby), one nephew, WH Woods (Brenda) with Emily and Billy, brother-in-law Eugene Ward and sisters-in-law Jean Adcock, Esther McGhee (Carl) and Shirley Foster (Charles) and  a special nephew, David McGhee (Ralph and Hannah) who was there in her final minutes to sing her home, a beautiful memory for family that was gathered.
She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. The family will gather at the Adcock Cemetery to commemorate her long and productive life with a simple graveside service which will be led by grandson, Chase Brown.
Special thanks to Adoration Hospice for their love and care during these last months. Special thanks to Charlotte Williams and Lorie Stinnett with Adoration. The love and support provided for Leewanda and her family caregivers is unmatched and appreciated beyond words.  Special thanks to Pam Hamby for stepping in and giving family caregivers much needed rest.
