MARGARET LOUISE (SINGLETON) HEMBREE

Margaret Louise Singleton Hembree, 90, of Oliver Springs, formerly of  Dickson, TN, passed into eternal glory to be with the LORD on June 26, 2019.  She was born on May 29, 1929 to the late James Allen and Mattie Spicer Singleton.  She was born again on Palm Sunday of 1953.  Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Leonard Leon Hembree; and brother, Billy Singleton; and sister, Katherine O’Kain.

She is survived by her daughters, Janet (Mike) Gibbons, Powell, TN; Joyce (Mike) Weaver, Oliver Springs, TN, brother, James (Dorothy) Singleton, Nashville; sister-in-law, Jackie Hembree, Michigan.

Six grandchildren; Megan (Justin) McGee, Johnson City, Rachel (Joshua) Reeves, Knoxville, David (Holly) Vespie, Oak Ridge, Paul (Angela) Vespie, Lawrenceburg, Jonathan (Caitlin) Vespie, Nashville and Adam (Autumn) Vespie, Centerville.

Ten great-grandchildren; Perez, Manassah and Maylee McGee, Rease Jones and Reagan Vespie, Asa and Cora Vespie, Laura Grace and Harper Vespie, Ruby Vespie and several nieces and nephews.

She was a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Oliver Springs, TN.  She found joy in seeking to be a blessing to others, reading and studying her Bible, attending church services and listening to Christian radio.  Her favorite station was BBN 95.3 FM.  A favorite Bible verse was, “I was glad when they said unto me, let us go into the house of the LORD.”  Psalm 122:6.

She retired from the Metropolitan Board of Education in Nashville in 1992 where she was a secretary for over 35 years.  She served in various schools beginning in the 1950’s, in later years she worked in the District lll Office and for WDCN School TV network as secretary.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to Mount Pisgah Baptist Church Print Shop or to Mount Pisgah Baptist Church Missions. 

Thank you to the caring staff and friends she made a Windsor Gardens Assisted Living in Powell where she enjoyed living for the past few years and to Pastor and Mrs. Garvan Walls for their visits and prayers.

The family will receive friends Saturday, June 29, 2019 from 4:00 to 6:00pm at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Oliver Springs.  Funeral services will follow at 6:00pm with Pastor Garvan Walls officiating. 

Graveside services will be Sunday, June 30, 2019 at 3:00pm (cst) at Sherwood Cemetery in Sylvia, TN with Bro. Joe Vick of Old Paths Baptist Church, Bon Aqua officiating.
