MARY LOCKHART Obituary

Mary Louise Williams Lockhart, age 76, of Oak Ridge, Tennessee passed away surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, May 20, 2020.  Mary was born in Dayton, Ohio in 1943.  Mary spent parts of her childhood in Oklahoma and California, and grew up in Azle, Texas on a family farm.  Mary graduated from Azle High School where she was a cheerleader and played basketball for the Azle Hornets.  While working in Fort Worth, Texas she met and married her husband George.  Mary and George relocated to Oak Ridge, Tennessee in 1970 where they raised their three loving daughters.

Mary was an avid bridge player, she started playing at age three with her mother and aunts and eventually became a Life Master.  Mary developed many close friendships through playing bridge.  Mary was very active and enjoyed playing golf and tennis.  Mary enjoyed traveling with an adventurous spirit.  She moved to the country of Panama and later Naples, Florida where she lived and entertained family and friends for several years.  Mary developed a passion and flair for remodeling homes. She had a love for French Bulldogs and adored her pets Sonny, Maggie and Vinnie. Mary had a zest for life that included playing practical jokes on friends, throwing elaborate parties, and expressed her care and love for all.

Mary had an eclectic taste in music, movies and TV shows.  She enjoyed discussing politics as long as you agreed with her, and appreciated arguing politics if you did not.  She was a loving mother to her children and all of their friends, and was also a successful business owner.  Mary earned a Bachelor’s degree in business administration from Tusculum University.  She developed great working relationships as she advanced her career, and worked up until the time of her passing.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents Roy Williams and Ruby Batch Williams and loving husband George B. Lockhart.  Mary is survived by her daughters Molly Bookout (Kenny Fine), and children Aaron Bookout, Olivia Bookout, Cody Fine, and Brandon Fine;  Amy Byrd and children Rachel Byrd Nigh (Jesse Nigh), Reagan Byrd, Joshua Byrd, and Carmel Byrd (Darcy Billingsley);  and Sara Parsons (Todd Parsons) and children Emily Lockhart Gunter (Logan Gunter) and Evan Parsons.  Mary is also survived by her brother Terrell Williams (Patsy Williams) and their children, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and close friends including her childhood and lifelong friend Bettie Kurtz.
