Patty Jean Samp passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025, at the age of 90 years old. Patty was born and raised in Blytheville, Arkansas. She moved to Chicago, Illinois as a young adult where she raised her family and worked for Chicago Lock Company for over 30 years until retirement. She moved to Knoxville, TN in 2018 to be closer to family.
She loved bowling, playing cards and dancing, but what she loved more than anything was spending time with her family. Her favorite time of year was during the yearly “Privett Family Reunion” where she shared many good times with her family making lasting memories.
Patty is survived by her sons Bobby Owens (Jane) and Rick Owens (Patty), stepdaughter Rosalind Samp, grandchildren Kim Magnusson (Mark) and Jesse Owens (Charla) and great grandchildren Elin Magnusson and Roland Owens. She is also survived by brother Bill Privett, sisters Peggy Gage, Linda Stidham and Elizabeth Hankins as well as many nieces and nephews.
Patty is preceded in death by her husband Richard Samp, parents JC Privett and Rachel Privett Rice, stepfather Elmer Rice, brothers JC (Pete) Privett, Duane (Pinky) Privett, James (Bud) Privett and sister Elizabeth Plumbley.
A visitation will be held on Saturday November 29, 2025, from 10:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. at Jackson Funeral Home and Cremation in Oliver Springs. A memorial service will follow in the chapel at 10:30 A.M. with Brother Dean Wright officiating.
