Shirley Jean Burgess, 72 of Coalfield, TN passed away Wednesday afternoon April 23, 2025, at her home.

She enjoyed her family get togethers, she looked forward to so many ballgames throughout her life with her children and grandchildren. She devoted her life to her husband of 56 years and family.

Shirley enjoyed going to church all her life until the last 4 years, she was unable to attend because of her illness.

Shirley’s family always looked up to her with respect and honored her every way. She gave her heart to God at an early age and lived a Christian life.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father Rev. Roy and Thelma Patterson.

Two sisters Emma Arwood and Wanda Harness along with several other family members and close friends.

She is survived by her husband Jerry Burgess

Sons, Jerry Mitchell (Polly) Burgess, Michael (Marie) Burgess, Shelly (Corie) Burgess.

Sister Rebecca Arwood and husband Allen

Eight grandchildren, Five great grandchildren and a host of Nieces, Nephews other family and friends.

The family would like to thank Covenant Hospice for their great care of Shirley.

Visitation service will be held on Sunday April 27, 2025, from 1-3:00 pm at Jackson Funeral Home and Cremation 51 Edmonds Drive, Oliver Springs, Tn. 37840 with Funeral at 3:00 pm officiated by pastor Tommy Kilby. Burial to follow at Estes Cemetery, Coalfield Tn.
